Hello and welcome to the 2018/2019 school year!  My name is Andria Cook and I am thrilled to be your child’s third grade teacher.  I can’t wait to get to know you and your child; I know this will be the start of a wonderful partnership.  I would like to take a moment to tell you a little about my background. I grew up in Greenville, Michigan and then I moved to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to attend Central Michigan University.  I received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and after I graduated, I worked in a preschool and found teaching to be my passion. I went back to school at the University of Michigan in Flint to get my Masters while I received certification for elementary teaching and in 2010 I achieved my National Board Certification.  I am now enjoying my 13th year teaching in North Carolina. This will be my eighth year at Davis Drive Elementary and I love being a part of this fantastic team of educators!

When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family!  My husband and I have an active 4 year old and 2 year old, named Carter and Hayden .  They are such sweet boys and it is such a joy to see them learn and grow! We love to travel, enjoy outdoor adventures, and read a lot of books together as a family☺

Your child’s success is very important to me; having good communication with you and the student will ensure their success.  I will send a weekly email to update you about our class, so you will be well informed. I will also be updating the class website as we go through the year to inform you on topics of study, reminders, homework, upcoming events, and special projects.  Homework is given daily and students will record assignments in their agenda for parents to review each night. I value communication with you, so feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns via phone, e-mail, or notes in your child’s agenda.

This will be a year filled with exciting change and growth.  In my classroom I create a sense of community in which everyone is responsible for his or her learning. We will work together as a class to help create that environment.  I will make learning fun and exciting as well as supporting your child to perform at their best. Setting high expectations both academically and behaviorally are very important and I strive to achieve this standard.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to email acook@wcpss.net, or send a note.  Please check your email and the class website periodically for updates!

Thank you and I look forward to working with you!
